grrrrr....im tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to hook this up so i can ''lap-top'' anywhere in the house based on my desk top computer...any ideas? i bought a :
WIRELESS-G
BROADBAND ROUTER
BY LINKSYS 2.4 GHZ/802.11 G
MY LAPTOP IS:COMPAQ..WINDOWS VISTA 80MB
OK...i dont wanna sound like an idiot..but do i put the linksys disc in the desk top computer or the laptop to get thr router set up??
YES..IM A TARD ;D...THERES NO FRIKKIN DIRECTIONS!!! EXCEPT ON THE DISC....AND THE PLUGS DONT ALL MATCH UP TO PORTS.....

Ok, good. make sure that it is turned on, most of them are on all the time, and some of them have an on/off switch. Go into your routers set up page to that you must open Internet Explorer nad in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 the user name should be Admin and teh password should be password or admin. Go to the wireless network tab and make sure your broadcast is enabled, and then run the network wizard on the laptop. let me know if thei helps. im going to try and find some pictures of this

thanks 4 yr help ,wish u lived closer...im still a mess with it soooooooo..... im gonna snag the next comcast guy i see in the neighborhood and offer him $20.00 to come in and tie it all together....in the meantime i will just have to sit my ass on this 1890"s re-finished wood chair and ''surf''.....the upside is i can spy on my neighbor lady..she has downs syndrome and she my sis-in-law....she can be quite entertaining at times...she walks her pomeranian dog(4-5lbs)
with a scrap of rope..so the dog is actually walking on 2 feet......the other 2 feet are in a kinda ''doggy-paddle'' motion in the air..funny...does that make me disrespectful of people with disabilities?? i hope not causes sis-in-law gets mad at me and threatens to shoot me with her bb gun....(she doesnt have one,thank god)

nope...took it back and my son is sending me one that i gave him last year..save $60.00...got a cheap ethernet cable in the meantime
